Lily Walks!!!! (and then some)
We started off just trying to capture some video of Lily walking. We got that covered, but then Lily wanted “artistic” control of how things were shot…

At nine o’clock at night, here’s what Lily’s doing.

Of the many toys Lily can play with at our house, the ones she likes the best belong to mommy and daddy. Specifically, mommy’s laptop and daddy’s iPod Touch.
While mommy’s laptop has lost seven keys thanks to Lily, my iPod had remained unscathed until today.
Lily and I were playing on the kitchen floor when I decided to lookup something online. Rather than getting up to go to the computer in the other room, I decided to use my iPod Touch to surf the web-which meant Lily was interested in surfing the web.
After about 30 seconds of web surfing, Lily was done and wanted to put the iPod in a lunch bag.
In and out, in and out the iPod went, Lily grinning with glee. Then she decided to play with it like a car, rubbing it against the kitchen floor, still grinning with glee…until I took it away from her. I took a look to see if it survived and saw what I thought was a dog hair. I tried to get the dog hair off the screen but soon realized it was a scratch on the touch screen!
It’s not terrible (even though it’s right in the middle of the screen) and it really only shows up on things with either a light or white background. It’s enough to be annoying, but not enough to warrant getting a new one.
My wife reminded me “That’s why we don’t let the baby play with $300 pieces of technology.”

I had planned to take today off of work for errand running, relaxing, and a little baby watching. But Mother Nature had other plans bringing an inch or so snow overnight; here in Lexington, KY that means schools are closed-including Lily’s day care. So with no day care and mommy having a full day of work, it was daddy day care!
We started off with Lily napping in my arms for about an hour. Normally this is fine, but soon after she fell asleep, I caught the whiff of a very stinky diaper. So for about an hour I was breathing in this awful smell. To top that off, my dog Spike, who’s been having stomach issues, was passing gas as well.
Breathe through the mouth, breathe through the mouth, breathe through the mouth.
After she woke up I fed her a little yogurt before heading downtown to take care of a traffic citation I received a few weeks back (expired tags). So Lily and I spent about an hour downtown at the DMV and courthouse getting that mess straightened out. She did great the entire time we were standing in lines (though she was getting heavy after an hour).
Just as I was heading home, my wife sent me a text message stating that she left her wallet in the diaper bag (which I had, of course) and could I drop it off at her office. Before heading to her office, I thought I should give Lily a little milk just in case she was hungry. I tried doing something that her day care providers says works-giving her milk in a sippy cup. Um…not for me.
Well that little experiment went horribly wrong, we missed my wife at the office and decided to go home for some lunch for Lily and myself.
Followed by some play time that included exploring Yoda’s crate,
moving from the music table to the pack-n-play
and taking the camera to make a self portrait, then stick the lenses in her mouth (this is what a rice puff sees before it’s devoured).
We ended up going back to my wife’s office for a visit and to drop off a chai latte. It seemed to lift her spirits to see the Lily during a long day of work.
The rest of the day was spent playing at home, or trying to nap (which didn’t really happen, oh well). I was nice to spend an entire day with my daughter. Usually on weekdays I see her for maybe 1 1/2 hours before we put her to bed, so it was nice to get an idea what Lily’s (and sometimes my wife’s) weekdays are like.

I had some time this weekend (finally) to fool around with my blog and update a couple of things on the back end. While I was at it I decided to update the front page with a few photos of Lily

I wanted to get this up shortly after Christmas, but that didn’t happen for various reasons. Well, better late than never. Enjoy!

Last night we gave Lily her first solid food. Here’s the video. Enjoy.

Yesterday, Lily met her cousin Arianna for the first time. Baby’s seemed interested in each other, and the parents were gushing over the event.
